We Have More on Our Side!

Warring AngelsI’m sitting in our music room/library while Becky is playing worship music on the piano. The presence of the Lord and His peace is so real to us. Slowing down, focusing on God with each other, opens us to the unseen realities of eternity. In His presence we are encouraged, strengthened, and filled up once again in order to give out in ministry to others. Here is verse to one of my favorite songs,

“In the presence of Jehovah

God Almighty, Prince of Peace

Troubles Vanish, Hearts are Mended

In the presence of the King.”

In The Presence of  Jehovah, The Martins

We also, recognize there is an unseen enemy, a virus that is an impersonal enemy. The virus is deadly, but as the bad guys say in the movie, “it’s not personal it’s just business” as it attaches itself to its hosts that it victimizes. However, we are not afraid, we are at peace! Of course, we are practicing healthy habits wise people observe, not out fear but wisdom.

We also know there are unseen good heavenly beings around us, called angels. They are representatives of the holiness, might, and power of God. When they appear in the Bible people fear and dread them. The angels have to say, “Don’t be afraid.” In others words they are saying, “Get up, I’m not going to hurt you.” The Bible asks and answers a question about who and what they do. “What are the angels, then? They are spirits who serve God and are sent by him to help those who are to receive salvation.” (Hebrews 1:14, GN)  They are not to be worshipped; they are not even central to the message of the Bible, they are as the angel said, to the Apostle John. “I, John, have heard and seen all these things. And when I finished hearing and seeing them, I fell down at the feet of the angel who had shown me these things, and I was about to worship him. But he said to me, “Don’t do it! I am a servant together with you and with your brothers the prophets and with all those who obey the words in this book. Worship God!”” (Revelation 22:8–9, GN)

  1. God created us and them.
  2. They serve God. We serve God.
  3. They help us, usually unseen.
  4. They refuse worship saying, they are servants with us.
  5. They and we worship God!

So my dear friend in Christ, during this COVID 19 pandemic, take some time to worship, and remind yourself that the Lord is with you. Experience all that God has for you. Oh yes, in the background there are angels who work unseen, unnoticed, but powerfully in our behalf. “Don’t be afraid,” Elisha answered. “We have more on our side than they have on theirs.” Then he prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord answered his prayer, and Elisha’s servant looked up and saw the hillside covered with horses and chariots of fire all round Elisha.” (2 Kings 6:16–17, GN)

Peace!
