Free to Succeed!

Throughout the Covid 19 pandemic we have been reminded of the importance of healthy hygiene habits. Produce recalls, canned goods recalls, and meat recalls due to E-Coli are not unusual anymore. I am grateful for the recalls so that we trust the purity of what we buy from our local grocers. We live with the recalls, hand sanitization stations, masks, and Covid tests to try and live a cleaner and purer life. Globally and nationally a renewed empahsis on purity has emerged. The emphasis on purity is healthy and encouraging.

Purity in hygiene means freedom from contaminants, germs, and viruses that can be fatal. Purity of heart and mind can liberate us from whatever hold us back in life. Purity gives us power in our lives, success, healthy relationships, and all around good health. Think of it this way you can be free from something in order to be free to become something more.

Purity means I am free to succeed! Purity of spirit, soul, and body are so important. God’s Word teaches us to know how in all three facets of our life.

But don’t just listen to God’s word. … Look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.” (James 1:25, NLT)

  1. Study. “Look carefully…” Think about, reflect, and follow up to acquire knowledge and skill. I agree with Solomon, “much study wears you out.” Ecclesiastes 12:12c The answer to that is to filter and be discreet about the information we consume.
  2. Apply. “…do what it says…” Use it or lose it. In other words learn how to use what you learn. “Joseph … taught the leaders how to use wisdom.” (Psalm 105:22, CEV)
  3. Memorize. “…don’t forget what you heard…” You are not alone in memorizing or applying the Word of God to your life. The Holy Spirit within us helps us to remember, be wise, strong, discerning, and live faithfully. “… you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13, NLT)

So that’s my prayer for you today, “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13, NLT)

Oh, and don’t forget the promised blessing from God for doing this. “…God will bless you for doing it.” (James 1:25, NLT)

Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement this week. God has been so very faithful covering my family and protecting them. We are being careful even though my Covid symptoms are not worth comparing to the sufferings of others. Fever, aches, and pains have been mild. I’ve not lost my sense of smell or taste. I walk on the treadmill a few minutes daily to help my immune system. If you are interested in learning more about walking and your immune system check out this brief article from UCLA.
