Jesus’ disciples tried unsuccessfully to help a boy after the boy’s dad asked them to. The dad and the disciples appealed to Jesus for help. As always Jesus came through and healed by delivering him from the grip of the devil. Later when the disciples asked why they had failed, he told them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” Mark 9:29, NKJV

A couple of things. First the disciples wisely asked Jesus why they failed? Second he didn’t give up on them, instead he taught them. Third, prayer and fasting are crucial to some battles. Fourth, anticipate and expect an answer to your prayer. Fifth, joy comes after the fasting and prayer.
