Taking Pride

This Memorial Day will be memorable for me for quite awhile. Woodland buried a member of our local community today. We grieved with his wife and family. He was an devoted family man, an avid outdoorsman, and sports enthuisast. Although, I didn’t know him personally, after meeting with his family, I believe we could have been good friends.  Preaching his funeral and pointing his family and friends to the help God offers us was an honor.

My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!” (Psalm 121:2, NLT)

I’m always so proud of Woodland at moments like these. Even though it was holiday, our adults, students and children all volunteered to serve this family. They served with grace, love, and kindness. You demonstrated the love of Christ today. God helped this beautiful family through you.

Yes, I am proud of you. It is the pride that comes from what Christ has done in you!

This is as certain as my pride in what Christ Jesus our Lord has done in you.” (1 Corinthians 15:31, NLT)

I have the highest confidence in you, and I take great pride in you.” (2 Corinthians 7:4a, NLT)

Yes, you are our pride and joy.” (1 Thessalonians 2:20, NLT)

Finally, I truly pray that God will use me so that you will always be able to take pride in me.

And when I come to you again, you will have even more reason to take pride in Christ Jesus because of what he is doing through me.” (Philippians 1:26, NLT)

Peace!
