I love Paul’s following prayer for the church from Colossians 1:9, “We ask God to give you complete knowledge of His will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.” With the gift of the Holy Spirit and the Bible God has abundantly answered Paul’s prayer for us.  The Bible unfolds for us our salvation through in Christ, the wisdom and understanding needed for successful and effective living, and a glimpse of God’s will for the future through the Second Coming and Resurrection.

Therefore it becomes vital that we apply ourselves to prayerfully understanding and obeying the revealed will of God.  Doing the will of God is just as important as knowing about God’s will.  The more we learn about God the more we grow to love Him.  Loving God means obeying Him.  “If someone claims, ‘I know Him well!’ but doesn’t keep His commandments, he’s obviously a liar.  His life doesn’t match his words.  But the one who keeps God’s word is the person in whom we see God’s mature love.” 1 John 2:4, Message

So what is the will of God, for the Church, the world, you and me personally.  We will look at that this week.  It’s wonderful and it’s exactly what we need now!
