Above everything else Christmas is about the love of God!  I’m smiling with joy as I think about this.  “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16, NLT Think about it for just a moment with me.  Is it any surprise that a Christian wants to sing “Alleluia!” with the angels.

Yes, God loves!  The apostle John reminds us that God is love. (1 John 4:8) God reveals that His nature is to love and give.  Look at earth, our beautiful blue marble God placed in the universe perfect for life.  He gave us the planet with its beauty, abundance and seasons to enjoy and steward for His glory.  He gave us companionship in marriage and the blessings of sons and daughters.  He gave us His Son to be our Savior.  God not only rules and reigns, He loves and gives.

The gods of this world make slaves of people.  Enslaved by addictions, fears, materialism, superstitions and pride the gods of this world diminish human beings to the depths of despair.  Serving gods that are never pleased.  The gods demand it.  The teachers of these gods declare it.  It may be the gods of myth and lore or the idols of consumerism or ego.  By losing our way we do our best to enslave others to do our will.

In the darkest hour Christ came preaching peace and the arrival of the kingdom of heaven.  Repent (turn around, follow me) and receive the Kingdom of heaven.  It’s a kingdom of goodness, peace and joy in the Holy spirit! (Romans 14:17) This Christmas he comes to you with love, peace and joy!  For unto you a Savior is born!
