Loving Conversation

One of the many things in marriage that is joyful is good conversation and at other times the peace in presence without words. It makes sense of 1 Corinthians 13:1, If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.

Love makes our conversation or our quiet moments meaningful. Love compels us to speak to one another with encouragement and listen quietly to our spouse. Love will eliminate the friction that causes a marriage to rust and squeak.

The love chapter of the Bible doesn’t say anything about romance. It however reveals what faithful and covenant love does. This love is possible to human beings because God first loved us. See 1 John 4:19.

What encourages your spouse?
What do you look for in conversation?
Do you “feel” safe in sharing your thoughts and dreams with one another?
Can you look in one another’s eyes quietly? In conversation?
Do you listen without trying to think of what you want to say?

Peace and Joy!
