A mountain mover was a teacher who could effectively apply the Scriptures to a problem or an an issue to resolve that problem. That teacher was said to remove mountains or reduce them to nothing. The wisdom of God’ Word is that its principles are still completely relevant to modern issues.
God gave us the Bible to reveal himself. In that revelation of himself, is His wisdom for living. He gave us Holy Spirit to give us power to be His witness. A witness for Christ and the new life he gives us. Christ is present with His Church in Spirit and Word. He is present with us.
Christ has not only given us teachers (Ephesians 4), but the Holy Spirit helps us to understand the Word and apply it. Think of 1 John 2:27 where we are reminded that the Holy Spirit has been given to us to help us understand truth from error.
Psalm 119:33-40 is a prayer for God to give us a strong inclination for His Word. Over and over the Scriptures show us how the Scripture will move mountains in relationships, crisis, economics, well in any area of our life personally or a nation.
There is coming a day according to Micah 4:2 that the nations will come to the mountain of the Lord to learn His Word. It reminds me of G. K. Chesterton’s memorable line. “We do not want, as the newspapers say, a church that will move with the world. We want a church that will move the world.”
What will move the world, is what will move your mountain; God’s Word applied. Living by faith in God’s Word will lead you to a place of confidence, peace and security!
What mountain are you facing? Do you know what the Bible says about that mountain? What do you need to learn?
I still use my Thompson’s Chain reference Bible to research what the Bible has to say about an issue. I also really like the Life Application Bible for the same purpose. But one of the great benefits of the LAB is the questions in the notes to help you apply the Scripture.
Do you have resources you would recommend?
Let’s move a mountain!
Peace and Joy!
I’d like to share something I heard a couple years ago. “Don’t measure the size of the mountain, talk to the One who can move it”. I wish I could remember where I heard, or read that. I’m guessing it was something I read by Max Lucado (I really enjoy his books) or someone I heard on WMUZ the Lite. Where I heard it is not as important as how much it has helped me with my faith walk. I have shared this with others in the hope that it will help them too.
