iBelieve in the Church #1

I believe in the church!  I should go further and say, I love the church!

“God rescued us from the dark power of Satan and brought us into the kingdom of his dear Son, who forgives our sins and sets us free.”  Colossians 1:13-14, CEV

The church is a living organism made up of imperfect people serving and a perfect God of holiness, love and joy!  Although far from perfect, the church is beautiful gathering of a motley crew inhabited by the Spirit of the Lord.  The church is a place of celebration and refuge, teaching and doing, rejoicing and mourning, and where broken fish and loaves become more than enough because of the presence of Christ.  Without the church the world would be a dark and hopeless place.   Think of all the hospitals, orphanages, clinics, schools, universities, arts, feeding stations, first aid and the list goes on an on.

We celebrate the birth of our children, their discipleship, their marriages and dedicate their children at church.  We sadly mourn with those who suffer.

We approach the Bible humbly and we learn as Spirit led teachers teach and then with the Holy Spirit’s empowerment we apply those truths to our lives, families and careers!

We open our hearts, homes and wallets to those who are seeking refuge.  It may be the children in an orphanage we are building in Bangladesh, our homes to a suffering family or sometimes as in some harsh places I’ve visited, the church is sanctuary from persecutors.

Join me this week as we look at the church and why it matters!

Peace and Joy!
