Where do you turn when a crisis unexpectedly strikes hard? What do you feel? Who do you turn to?
Today, I prayed with a family that demonstrated the comfort and security that only Christ and his love can give during a crisis. After a massive stroke struck their father, they turned to God in prayer and to one another in love. There were tears and prayers. When I walked into the family’s waiting area I was greeted with hugs but I was overwhelmed with the faith and love of this family.
His wife invited me to go to his bed side in Intensive Care. She spoke tenderly to her unconscious husband while her hand caressed him. I prayed and quoted Scripture. We believe God heard us. According to the doctors its possible her husband heard us.
Do they feel frightened? Of course. But do they have peace? Oh, most assuredly! Why? Faith, hope and love. Faith that what God has begun in us he will complete. Hope is a beautiful Biblical Word. It means assurance! We know that God loves us and his peace fills our hearts. What joy to stand with that family in prayer!
When have you experienced peace in the storm? Who stood with you?
Are you going through a crisis now? Don’t go it alone. There is someone who wants to walk through it with you.
God will carry you through safely too!
Peace and Joy!
