Today commenting about the message on Sunday, one of our pastors said, “the message Sunday has caused me to think, ‘what can I do better?'” He’s a great husband and dad!
His statement reminded me of the encouragement I heard for a marriage retreat. “For those who want to make a good marriage better!” Building any relationship especially a marriage includes a commitment to becoming a better husband, dad, friend, employer, employee, etc.
However, there is also a comfort level, that the Scriptures give us. God is working in us! Tonight as I get ready to pray with my family before going to bed, I’m confident that he is working in Becky, me and each of our children. Building a close knit family is not a step by step list of self improvement. It is co-operating with the work of God’s Spirit with us in love and grace.
“God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.” Philippians 2:13 (NLT)
Peace and Joy!
