Deeply Secure

Deeply secure! It is a fact and it is a glorious sense of God’s presence that I have known for most of my life. Deeply secure when our Pastor, Gerald Bailius would lay his hands on my head and pray for me with my parents my his side in the hospital. Deeply secure when our family gathered by parents side while one of them read the Bible and prayed for us. There was an even greater sense of security as children because they prayed together for us.

Deeply secure, when I trusted in Jesus Christ as my Savior. My sins were forgiven and something undefinable happened with me and I was changed. It was almost too good to be true. I was tempted to think surely, I have to earn this every day. The prodigal son said, “Please take me on as a hired servant.I am no longer worthy of being called your son.” (Luke 15:21, NLT)

One of my theology professors helped me with this. When God saves us, he adopts us as his beloved children. When we struggle, have conflict, or doubts like a father, God comes to our side to help, deliver, and strengthen our faith. Again, deep security! Nothing changes that father/child relationship.

One more thought about why we are deeply secure. The devil attacks us but God, our heavenly Father protects us. “You have always put a wall of protection around him and his home and his property.” (Job 1:10a, NLT) God has placed around you and me his protection from the evil one.

Take a moment and reflect on this before you go to sleep tonight. As we prayed with our children and as I pray over our church family, there is the promise of deep security that I feel right now! “The children of your people will live in security. Their children’s children will thrive in your presence.”” (Psalm 102:28, NLT)

Peace!
