Just Thinking: Reading, a Song, and the Atlanta Braves

I’ve been listening to the song, “Goodness of God” over and over this week. I can’t stop singing it. It is my “testimony song.” It’s been awhile since a song has expressed how I feel so clearly. Oh, how I wish that everyone would realize just how great and good God really is. You just have got to listen to it. With Thanksgiving coming so quickly, it is the perfect song. I especially like the way CeCe Winans sings it. https://youtu.be/y81yIo1_3o8

It was good to see the Atlanta Braves win the World Series. Most of the people that I have talked to have expressed surprise about their making it to the World Series and even more at winning it. In August they were certainly not looking so good. What a lesson, never give up! The last time they won the World Series, our children were just munchkins. We were traveling and stopped at a restaurant and told the manager, we wanted to have dinner and watch the game. He was great and kept our kids supplied with snacks while we cheered with everyone else for the Braves. Although, I didn’t get to watch the final game, it’s been so much fun hearing from friends who did. Here’s a quick recap of the final game. https://youtu.be/mS9dJpRkY_I

I’m reading the book “If I Could Do It All Over Again: Christian Leaders Share the Most Important Lessons of Their Lives” by Jon Gauger. It really is a good read and motivating me for this last quarter of my life. Winning happens in the 4th Quarter! When finished I’ll share my thoughts about the book.

What are you listening to? What is your favorite song? What are you reading? I’m curious!

Peace!

  1. Charles Krauthammer’s book “Things That Matter: Three Decades of Passions, Pastimes and Politics.” Really enjoying it.

Scars in Heaven by Casting Crowns…. beautiful!

Keeping you and your beautiful family in prayer. Love to all of you!

  2. Barb, I really enjoyed Krauthammer’s book. I will listen to Scars in Heaven. Thank-you for your prayers. Love y’all too!

  3. Definitely Scars in Heaven for favorite song. It replaced “it’s a Wonderful World” for me. I am not much of a reader but recently purchased a devotional by Max Lucado “God is with you Everyday.”
