Making Dreams Come True

I pray that the first two months of 2021 have been as productive and prosperous as people were hoping when 2020 was finally history. I found myself singing “Great is Thy Faithfulness” this morning. The phrase “morning by morning new mercies I see” filled my soul with music. Lamentations 3:23 tell us they are new every morning!

We have lived and made history in the first two months of 2021. In just a few days if we are faithful to watch over our Life Goals we will evaluate our first quarter (Q1) and prepare for Q2. If you haven’t made the progress that you hoped for, don’t be discouraged. Remember why the goal was important to you. If you can’t answer that question then it probably doesn’t belong in your Life Goals. The only exception to that is if it is necessary for your job.

Once you have reminded yourself of why the Life Goal is important then address the next step you need to take. You might need to adjust your investment of time, money, or energy to achieve that next step? Be creative in your thinking. As my wife likes to say, “think outside the box.”

I have a goal beginning in Q2 that will require just a few minutes of my time every daily for the rest of the year. At the end of the year, if the Lord is willing, I will have achieved my goal. It is the proverbial how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

One more suggestion as you do your weekly review, invest a little time into preparing for that Q1 review. Plan a few hours at the end of the month to look back over your calendar, your daily to do list, and your daily notes, you will remember and learn a lot. What? Well, conversations, events, ideas, and prayer requests you wrote down. Why were they important to you? Why did you take the time to write them down? Do they require any further action? For example a follow up call, a “Thank-you” note, or perhaps a gift.

Finally, remember the Lord’s promise, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance …” (Proverbs 21:5, ESV). Commit to the prayerful process of review, plan, execution, and trust God for new mercies and grace daily.

Tomorrow, I’m posting about Purposeful Fasting!

Peace!
