Last Sunday one of my board members jokingly told our congregation that I promised to take Becky shopping once a week for her birthday. Not! Everyone laughed, knowing I don’t enjoy going to a mall. Yet here I am tonight in the mall and deliriously happy to be with her.
She is smiling and enjoying this evening. And she hasn’t bought a thing. Of course she has never been a materialistic woman. She looks for ideas that she can use in our home, our children and grandson, for the sanctuary, and Kids Zone. I enjoy listening to her talk. “We could do …”
Holding her hand while we walk, she laughs and leans up close to me. There is a Starbucks! Hmm, I might do a little more “shopping.” I’m still going to have talk to that board member about lying though!
