God makes a promise in 1 Samuel 2:30 “I will honor those who honor me, and I will despise those who think lightly of me.” (NLT) This is one of those promises that reminds me of the relationship that God offers us in Christ. Living for God is living in relationship with Him and not by rules or principles. All of us who have experienced the life transforming power of His grace desire to honor Him. When we give God the best of our time, thought, preparation, planning, relationships and resources we are honoring Him. Here are three ways to consider today.
- Give him the best part of your day in prayer (adoration, confession, thanksgiving and supplication).
- Give him the best you can in preparation for that presentation at work or paper in school.
- Give the best to those important relationships in your life. Stephen Covey describes those relationships as the people who will be at your bedside when you are dying.
God promises to honor us when we honor Him. The conditional promise deserves the best thought from those who love Him and desire His best!
[God] will give glory, honor and peace to everyone who does good… Romans 2:10 (NCV)
Peace and Joy!
