My greatest joys in relationships and work have resulted from commitment. Building commitment into my life has been rewarding to say the least. My model for commitment has been Jesus Christ. Think about Christ’s commitment to us. His commitment to us carried Him to Calvary for our salvation and our new life in Christ. I rejoice daily and remember His commitment to us!
Then there is my commitment to Becky and our children and theirs to me. How about our commitment to the Church? My commitment to teaching the Scripture and to following Christ’s teaching revealed in them.
Commitment is one of the basic building blocks to a rewarding, fulfilling and joyful life.
Consider this passage of Scripture.
“What happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard – things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.” Galatians 5:22 (Message)
Get it? God’s commitment to bless us with gifts of affection, exuberance, serenity, compassion, holiness leads us into loyal commitments. Life is easier, smoother and our energies are channeled wisely and productively.
Peace and Joy!
Jesus has never faltered in my life. His commitment to Debbie and myself has blessed both of our lives in so many ways. How can we not show our commitment to Him? Trust in Him. Hebrews 6 17-18
