Anxiety Does Not Define Us

The beginning of anxiety is the end of faith, and the beginning of true faith is the end of anxiety. George Muller

Anxiety has become the fixed mindset defining the future for many people today, according to a clinical psychologist at a major university. So many people are worried, hurried, harried, and less confident of their future. Just today, an experienced ex-pat couple of 42 years abroad; told my wife and me they have met so many people leaving the U.S. and Canada to live in a third world country because they are so anxious about the future of their countries. They on the other hand are so happy to move back to the USA.

Psalm 23 hold the answer to the worries, fears, and threats that lead to indecisiveness and uncertainty. “The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.” (verse 1) When you know God’s love and sovereign grace in your life, you really do have all that you need. God is certain! God is constant! God is eternal! God gave you his only Son for your sins; will He not also provide everything else you and I need in life.

Put your faith and trust in what is certain. No power in heaven or hell can take you out of the hands of God. “My Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.” (John 10:29, NLT)

I love the imagery of the shepherd. The Good Shepherd who never abandons his flock. He guides, provides, protects, and delivers. Jesus is all this and more. You have every reason to be confident of the future. Have confidence! “You are my place of safety and protection.” (Psalm 91:2, NCV)

Peace!
