Growing in Friendship with God

It’s good news to me that God wants us to know Him, to find Him as we seek Him with all of our hearts! Once we do, then we make a commitment to love him always.

One of my favorite verses in the Bible is “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.” Ephesians 2:8

In to many instances couples “fall in love” only to “fall out of love.” First we don’t fall in love only to fall out of love. We fall in a ditch or fall on the ice. (Romantics please don’t hate me.) I understand the romantic feelings that make us feel like we were helpless when it came to our affections. The truth is that we grow in love, make a decision to stay in love, and then hold one another close in our heart and mind.

When we are in love, we change, we grow, we become more selfless and generous. Growing in my friendship with Christ has changed me day by day. We grow in faith. We grow in love. Why? Because Jesus left the heavens, stepped down so to speak to come and live among us and loved and died in our place to atone for sins. He comes to us so that we can come to Him.

Many things were not and would have never been important to me if wasn’t for Christ. Now the lost matter, reconciliation matters, the Bible matters, the Kingdom of God matters. You get the picture. What matters to Jesus matters. “I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of those my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me.” Matthew 25:40

How do I grow? By having the same attitude of trust and love as Christ has. “You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.” Philippians 2:5.

Peace!
