Compassionate Power

Saturday I was meditating on this beautiful passage of Scripture about our Lord. “When the Lord saw her, his heart overflowed with compassion. “Don’t cry!” he said.” Luke 7:13, NLT

The Lord wasn’t saying to her, “Cheer up” or “Buck up.” From deep within His sinless and selfless self compassionate love for this suffering woman flowed out of Him to her. As we grow in holiness (Paul described holiness as the fruit of the Spirit) compassion grows within us. The easiest way for me to think through holiness is to think on Christ. As we yield to the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives we become selfless and we sin less. In its place compassion grows in our lives.

In a suffering world Christ has lovingly, sovereignly, and powerfully placed His body, the Church, to compassionately minister. To see and hear the cries of pain we must grow in Christlikeness in order to moved with compassion and power.

Further, whatever hurts and causes you pain or the need in your life like suffering from loss or grief, His heart overflows with compassion for you. God is not distant from your suffering. In the sovereignty of God’s plan, Jesus met this widow who was on her way to the cemetery to bury her son. Everything changes when Christ comes near.

Slow down or stop completely and listen to the voice of the Lord in the Scriptures resonate deep in your heart. He is no respecter of persons, His heart overflows with compassion for you.

Are you aware that God really does care for you?
Are you aware that God wants to use you in compassionate care of others?
Do you know how to serve compassionately?
Are you looking for a place to serve?
If so you are on the brink of a miracle!

Grace, Peace and Joy!
