I’ve been thinking about trust today. Have you noticed the quotes invoking trust;
- News you can trust
- Leadership you can trust
- A bank you can trust
Jesus’ life and teaching are the gold standard of trust. First he always does what is best for us eternally. Second he never abandons us, never! “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.” John 10:28-29 (NLT)
When you are secure in a relationship there is a level of intimacy that develops and trust deepens. As trust deepens so does our ability to listen to the truth of the Scriptures and obey them.
We can learn from Christ how be trustworthy. Do I believe in others the way Christ believed in me? Do I listen to them, so I can learn where they hurt, what they value or need? Do they know their name will be safe with me, like we are with Christ? Finally, trust allows us for closeness. When intimacy develops we share ideas, experiences, and our thoughts.
People are hurting today and it will take time to build trust, but as we do our relationships with our families, professionally, and in our community will be better and as they used to say a Win Win!
