We have been enjoying the Season of Thanksgiving at our home. We have enjoyed Thanksgiving service at Woodland Church, hosting our family this week, sharing meals from different cultures, making new memories and remembering past memories filled with thanksgiving as we have shared picture. There has been a lot of laughter and stories shared.
When I reflect on my memories so many kind people have filled my heart with laughter, kindness, encouragement, and joy. Their impact has been encouraging in times of failures, laughter as we have shared stories, played golf, skied, or joy as we served in ministry together. I realize from them the opportunity we have to create and leave good memories that will outlive us.
“Gratitude is the memory of the heart.” Jean-Baptiste Massieu
Let me encourage you to sit down and review the last 24 hours prayerfully. If you do this daily you will fill your mind with so many good memories. Yes there will be some abrasive ones, but the good will definitely outweigh the bad. Reading my journal over the month previous, and the day of the month from years past brings to mind memories, that are gifts of the people God has brought into my life. So many of you are in my journal. Good memories make you memorable. Thanks for the memories!
Jesus didn’t want us to forget him, so he said to receive the Lord’s Supper in His memory. “Taking bread, he blessed it, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, given for you. Eat it in my memory.” Luke 22:19, Message
Here are a few of my Thanksgiving Memories this year.
