Deeply Secure

As a guest in so many homes, I have watched so many fathers and mothers play with their children on the floor. The hilarious laughter as children crawled over their Dad and Mom. One of the real benefits of being a guest in a home like that is being asked to pray over their children, before they go to sleep. Kneeling with parents and their children by a sofa or a bedside, you can feel the peace of God descend. Later before retiring for the night, I have stood beside those parents as they took one final look at their children sleeping peacefully. It is a picture of deep security.

God has often reminded me of how deeply secure, I am in Christ. He has forgiven and forgotten my sins (past, present, and future) through faith in Christ. Those sins are never held against us again. He gave me a new identity, a new name. He calls me son. He calls you his son or daughter. He loves us and loves our fellowship with Him. He never slumbers or sleeps but watches over us day and night.

Speaking of being deeply secure, I sense and know that Christ is in control. You can live daily in fellowship with Him. I talked with him this morning and throughout this day. At times He has dropped a thought in my mind. When I face a challenge, I face it in the name of the Lord. When I take a calculated risk, I take it by faith in God’s Word. When a storm comes, my roots are deep in him. Those storms have come and gone and Christ as made me, my family, our church firm in our faith.

“You can’t find firm footing in a swamp, but life rooted in God stands firm.” Proverbs 12:3 Message

Finally, God reminds me that he uses the events of life, good and bad, even my mistakes and failures to accomplish his purposes. Joseph’s brothers wickedly sinned against him. Yet Joseph, was deeply secure. His life was filled with danger, but he experienced a deep security because of God. He forgave his brothers and spoke these healing words to them. God can do that!

“You meant it for evil against me, but God meant if for good, in order to bring about the present result, to preserve many people alive.” Genesis 50:19
